So much is happening. Success, crisis, sickness, hate, growth, fatigue. Beyond human understanding. Part of a battle between good and evil. On the surface, it appears ideological, right verses left, red verses blue. But deeper than this, it is the battle of good verses evil.
I am not calling anyone person or group evil. Many might interpret it that way. But what is happening before our very eyes is from a war beyond our comprehension. Never could such a divide and hatred come from ideology alone. This is the super natural battle for souls. Battle for freedom. Battle for a way of life. Battle for our eternal salvation.
I stop today and step back. I evaluate what I can control, or think I can control. But in doing so, I am humbled by my mortality. By the fact that I am truly in control of nothing except for one thing. My faith. Because without faith, the world appears hopeless. Anxiety rules via sickness, insomnia, despair, depression.
God is in control. That is where my Hope lies. That is what I can control. My faith. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.
Pray today and everyday for strengthening of faith. Because in faith we are given Peace that surpasses all human understanding. With this Peace we are given the ability to see the pain of others and weather this storm which will pass. We, in faith, are a beacon to those who are lost in the darkness of today.
Today, tomorrow, someday. In the end, it is not where we have traveled, but who we have influenced that matters. Our journey is comprised of the routine; problems, solutions, victories and defeats. Through all of this, our actions, words or silence are observed my a nearly infinite number of eyes. Do we leave a lasting positive impression? Have we cause a pause in someone’s life that changes their course for the better? We will find out someday when the video is replayed at our heavenly home.
Thanksgiving. An American tradition. Massive meals, prequel to ridiculous shopping, hectic travel and the darkness of isolation. What? Yes, isolation. Busyness, the true escape from reality. We surround ourselves with people, work feverishly to clean, cook, make small talk, shop, fight crowds and in the end can be exhausted physically and emotionally. Sound like insanity repeated year after year.
A different perspective? A pathway out. The name of the holiday is the definition of the way out of darkness and insanity. Thanksgiving, gratitude, giving, reflecting on the infinite blessings poured on us. I know if I reflect, I could write a gratitude list a mile long. A sample would be, the color orange, sunrise, sunset, clothing, food, shelter, faith, forgiveness, sobriety, the gym, kids, new friends and on and on.
Instead of living in the cycles that pull us into our darkness, focus daily on the blessings. Write them down. Savor the moment. Thank our Creator for your calling and gifts. It can be liberating.
At times, the course of life can leave a person feeling a deficit of love. When we are physically and emotionally drained, by both victory and defeat, isolation can surround us like the peaks of the mountains being enveloped by clouds and mist. In a oddly calm way, a chill goes through to the core. If we do not love ourself, panic can set in and the spiral of defeat will suck us into the vortex of despair.
While the true love of those closest to us is necessary and uplifting, it can only assist us to stay on course as a reinforcement of the love we have for that which we are and exist.
We are created as uniquely individual. Deserving of the special love we can only give to self. Give yourself all the love you have to give, then you will be able to love those around you with full unselfish pure emotion.
Service is such a key to all of life. It is central to true fulfillment. Changing our mindset starts with observation. The opportunity to serve is all around. Service is not just action, but is in the words of kindness, encouragement and support we show to others. With those we find difficult to like or love lies the greatest opportunity to serve and grow.
Opportunity knocks constantly. Do the routine with enthusiasm. Think of others first. Get by giving, God is masterfully in control. Faith does not count the minutes, faith lives in the minutes with gratitude and anticipation of the miracles in store for us. Fear is lack of faith. #orangeistruth
God’s miracles are happening at lightning speed everyday, in every way; small, large and in between. Yet we make the mistake of dwelling on a past experience we cannot change or fear of a future that has not yet occurred and we miss most of the daily miracles that are showered upon us. Be present today. If you look for them with an open heart and mind, you will be overwhelmed by the flood of God’s daily miracles.
In the business of real estate, the focus is on the art of the deal. In getting the transaction to closing, to payday. But where was it ever written that we get to choose only the fun parts of the art of the deal? Where are the lessons learned that serve us and our clients in the future. Where is the highest level of knowledge gained? I would challenge anyone by saying in the art of the deal gone off the tracks.
When all goes well, we go through the numerous steps that we have become accustom to following. This applies to any business, hobby, relationship or classroom experience we have. While there are always bumps in the road, we navigate from our past experience and bring our goal to a successful conclusion. But with this there is very little growth.
When our goal goes awry, we have a fork in the road. A fork that will either lead to greater success, or a cycle of falling into the same cycle again, blaming someone else, calling it bad luck, or worse, telling ourselves that we are failures.
A more constructive path would hit the following thoughts:
Seek a solution for the obstucle
Seek the guidance of peers and leaders
Isolate areas where a different action would have created a better outcome
Be honest, admit any mistakes, rectify where possible
Grant yourself a degree of latitude. We are all human.
Make note of how this experience can be used constructively in future goals or transactions
Let go, focus on the next objective, find success quickly
When we view failed goals as text book and practical learning, we have bettered ourselves, added value to pass on to the next client and have prevented the cycle of self destruction.
Be a student of life, not a martyr of failure. It happens to all, if we don’t see that, then we are just living in denial and mediocrity.
